HIGHLIGHTS

  • It is most likely the Nokia 7.2.
  • The Nokia 7.2 is expected to be a much upgraded version over the Nokia 7.1.

HMD Global re-entered the smartphone business a few years ago. Since then the company has launched several smartphones in India. Recently HMD launched the Nokia 9 PureView in the country for starting price of Rs 49,999. It now looks like the company is working on a new smartphone to bring to the country very soon. It is most likely the Nokia 7.2. At least that is what tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore had revealed by one of his latest tweets.

According to the leak the Nokia 7.2 has received clearance from the EEC certification site this means the smartphone is already in the works. The EEC listing reveals that the Nokia 7.2 will come with a TA-1198 model number. Sadly the listing doesn't reveal many details about the Nokia 7.2 but considering HMD's track record the Nokia 7.2 may be a big upgrade over the Nokia 7.1 that was launched last year.

As of now, there are no specs details available of the Nokia 7.2 but we expect that the smartphone will come with lastest design, newest hardware and camera setups to compete with the existing competition and thrive in it. The Nokia 7.1 was launched in India back in November last year for starting price of Rs 19,999. The price of Nokia 7.1 in India has been reduced now.

The Nokia 7.1 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset which is also seen on the recently launched Redmi Note 6 Pro. The smartphone comes with a 5.84-inch Full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19:9. On the camera front, the Nokia 7.1 includes two sensors on the back and single on the front for selfies.

The Nokia 7.1 comes with Zeiss optics, much like the Nokia 7 Plus. On the backside, the Nokia phone packs a primary sensor of 12MP and a secondary sensor of 5MP for portrait shots. On the front, the new Nokia 7.1 comes with AI-enhanced 8MP front-facing camera for selfies. The selfie camera also works like facial recognition technology which will help the users to unlock the phone just by looking at the screen.

The Nokia 7.1 comes with 3060mAh battery bundled with USB Type-C port. The phone also comes with fast charging support. Like all Nokia phones, on the software front, the Nokia 7.1 runs Android 9 Pie based on Google's Android One programme, which means the phone will get regular software updates and improvements. We expect the same from Nokia 7.2 as well.
