US President Donald Trump has arrived in India accompanied by his wife and First Lady Melania Trump; He is also being accompanied by his daughter and senior advisor Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner.
While the Trumps’ are on a two-day trip in India along with a high-powered delegation, here’s a look at little known facts about Ivanka, the brain behind a Trump’s political and financial affairs.
Ivana Marie 'Ivanka' Trump (born October 30, 1981 in New York City), also known as Yael Kushner is an American businesswoman and author serving as senior advisor to her father, President Donald J. Trump since 2017.
Ivanka is multi-talented – She has been a television personality, fashion designer, author and businesswoman before being appointed as the White House advisor.
She is the daughter of president Trump and his first wife, former model Ivana Trump. She has two brothers, Donald Jr. and Eric; a half-sister, Tiffany; and a half-brother, Barron.
She once supported US Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. When Hillary Clinton launched her presidential bid in 2007, Ivanka supported Clinton and donated 1000 USD to her campaign. She is also close friends with Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of Hillary Clinton despite supporting different political parties.
Ivanka played a critical role in encouraging Donald Trump to run for President. She stood by her father’s side throughout her professional life — as a fellow judge on ‘The Apprentice’ and colleague in board meetings. She even introduced him at his official campaign launch, and is now has an unpaid role as his official assistant. The father-daughter duo share a very strong personal and professional bond and even share their love for golf.
With the intent of empowering women, Ivanka created her own fashion-clothing line for women called ‘WomenWhoWork’. Through this line she hoped to transfer her beliefs and ideologies of life into fashion. The line became famous mainly due to the extremely elegant designs, fabric and styles. Despite several attempts by some liberal organisations issuing boycott calls against the line, it has managed to achieve massive success.
Success started early for Ivanka. She landed her first modelling gig at age 14. By age 16, Ivanka had hosted Miss Teen USA and graced the covers of both Elle and Seventeen. But she soon realized that modeling was not for her and that’s when she set her sights on succeeding in her father’s business of real estate.
Ivanka Trump married Jared Kushner in July 2009. She was raised Presbyterian like her family members but before marrying Jared, she converted to Judaism. She follows a strict kosher diet and took the Jewish name Yael. She is now the mother of three young children and it is said that she and her husband turn off their phones over the weekends to completely disconnect and spend time with the family.
Following in the footsteps of her father, she attended Donald Trump’s alma matter. She studied Bachelor of Science in Economics at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and graduated with the highest distinction. She even funded her own school fees.
She has written two books, both of which have done fairly well. Her first book was released in 2009 and was titled “The Trump Card”, and the book mainly promotes working women in today’s society.Her second book titled “Women Who Work: Rewriting the Rules for Success” was released in early 2017. This book mainly focuses on Ivanka’s career advice for working women and the best practices for them to achieve success in modern organisations.
She has been featured on several lists, including Maxim Hot 100, where she stood at the 83rd place in 2007. She was at number 99 in 2007’s issue of Top 99 Women in the world and landed at the 84th position in the 2008 edition on AskMen.com.
