With just a day to go for the , the South Korean carmaker has revealed its official range. The electric SUV will be able to cover a whopping 452 kms on a single full charge. The range has been certified by ARAI.
Hyundai Kona will mark the entry of the carmaker in the Indian electric vehicle segment, which recently got a major boost when Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced during the 2019 Budget that there will be an on the interest paid on loans taken for the purchase of electric vehicles (EVs). The government is also reducing the GST rate on EVs from 12 per cent to 5 per cent.
There are a couple of battery options available with the international-spec Hyundai Kona -- 39.2 kWh and 64.0 kWh. The electric SUV gets a permanent-magnet synchronous motor. While the lower trim makes 136 hp and 395 Nm, the upper trim delivers 204 hp and 395 Nm of torque.
According to Hyundai, Kona's lithium-ion batteries are liquid-cooled to ensure optimal performance and efficiency. With 100 kW DC fast charging station, the batteries can be recharged up to 80 per cent of the capacity in less than an hour.

Taking into account the range revealed by Hyundai, it can be said that Kona with 64.0 kWh battery option will be launched in India. But don't be surprised if both the variants are introduced in the country. Price is expected to hover around Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom) mark.
