Snapshot: Hero showcased the Xpulse 200 and Xpulse 200T (touring-oriented version) at recently concluded EICMA 2018.
- the homegrown motorcycle manufacturer is prepping up to launch the Xpulse 200 in the second half of this month. A number of spy shots are doing rounds on social media platforms. Hero showcased the Xpulse 200 in EICMA 2017 for the first time and then, it came up with the touring-oriented version of the bike called as Xpulse 200T which was unveiled in EICMA 2018 along with the standard model.
The images shown here are the screenshots of a video in which CS Santosh - Hero Motorsports' Rally racer is riding the bike on an off-road setup. We expect the Xpulse 200 to be equipped with a 21inch front and 18inch rear tyres, telescopic front forks, monoshock at the rear, engine bash plate and a single channel ABS system. There is some LED work in headlamps as well. Xpulse 200's seat height is 825mm that can be a matter of concern for the shorter riders but the narrow seats on the bike will certainly assist them to put their feet flat on the ground.
A red Xpulse 200 can also be seen in the pictures which misses out on tail lamps, side indicators, engine bash plate and front mudguard. This can only be a test ride bike as it sports minimalistic bodywork and there is no official word from the brand about this custom version of the standard Xpulse 200. The entry-level off-roader is powered by a single cylinder 200 cc engine, similar to the one that powers the Xtreme 200R. Hero Xtreme 200R's motor churns out 19 bhp and 17.1 Nm of torque. We expect the Xpulse 200's engine to be tuned in a different way, keeping in mind the off-roading characteristics of the bike.
The Xpulse 200 is termed as the successor of Hero Impulse which was launched at a time when the Indian off-road scene was in the primitive phase and Impulse couldn't drive the sales numbers. But now, this particular entry level off roader motorcycle segment is witnessing participation from a number of manufacturers. The Xpulse 200 has all the elements to attract motorcycle enthusiasts hence, performing better than the Impulse in sales. We expect the pricing of 2019 Xpulse 200 to be around Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 1.30 lakh.
