The players and coaches of the famous German sports club Bayern Munich took a break and visited Ingolstadt this Wednesday to pick up their new “company cars” at the Audi Piazza. For the squad around Thomas Müller, Mats Hummels and Robert Lewandowski, the visit to their long-standing vehicle partner Audi was an event on home soil. The soccer players from Munich are now in their 15th season of driving cars of the premium brand. Hundreds of fans from the region and numerous Audi employees gave the players an enthusiastic welcome. Group photos, selfies and autographs were followed by a plant tour for the team.

Predominantly, the sporty RS models of Audi have traditionally been very popular with the Munich team. Five players selected the Audi RS 6 Avant as their vehicles – including Hummels, Jérôme Boateng and Thiago Alcántara. The flagship Audi Q7 too hasn't lost its charm among the players. The sportier Audi SQ7 TDI was favored by Müller and Franck Ribéry, and others. Coach Jupp Heynckes received an Audi SQ5 while the up-and-coming player Felix Götze chose the Audi A3 Sportback which is a perfect car for urban driving. FC Bayern München and Audi have been forming a team since 2002. Highlights of the partnership include the Audi Cup, which has been held every two years since 2009 as a preparation tournament at Allianz Arena, or the Audi Summer Tour.
This summer, Audi accompanied Bayern’s training camp in China and Singapore. There the squad played against AC Milan, Inter Milan, FC Chelsea and Arsenal London. Meanwhile, recently the German automaker launched the A5 range in the Indian market, which comprised of the Sportback, Convertible and the high-performance S5 variant. The Audi A5 is placed between the A4 and A6 saloons, while it directy has no rival in the country but still would get challenge from the likes of Mercedes C Class, Jaguar XF and Volvo S90. The company has followed a belligerent strategy for the Indian market with 10 products already launched in the country in 2017. Currently, it is fighting to re-claim the pole position of luxury automaker in India, which it lost to the arch rival Mercedes-Benz a couple of years back.
