Sushma Swaraj Helps Elderly Couple Stuck in France Return Home

Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj proved once again that she is truly the "people's minister" when she personally ensured that an elderly couple stuck in France will be able to return to India and the expense for the same will be covered by the Indian government. And yes, she did it with a tweet.

It all started when an elderly Indian man, currently based out of France, uploaded a video on YouTube saying that he longs to come back to India and that he is feeling sick and isolated at his residence.

He pleaded for help in the video:

The minister, after seeing the footage, immediately took to Twitter and solicited the assistance of Dr.

Mohan Kumar who is the India ambassador for France and Monaco.

She received a response from the Ambassador almost immediately noting that steps were being taken to bring the couple home.

Naturally, this elicited a positive response from Indians on Twitter who praised the Minister for her timely response and empathy.

The minister even took time to respond to some of these Tweets noting that she helps those who reach out to her personally because to her they are all "family."
